Quality and Training Tips 10/24/2025

Diagnostic Mammogram Scheduling - DC/19th Street:

  • Moving forward, for DC/19th Street only, schedule the Diagnostic Mammogram WITHOUT the Breast Ultrasound.
  • If a Breast Ultrasound is needed, it will be added by the Center when the patient arrives.
  • This change applies exclusively to the DC/19th Street Center.
  • For Breast Ultrasound and urgent Diagnostic Mammogram requests, continue to follow the existing process by emailing the contacts listed in the Symptomatic Patient Needs Sooner Appointment Job Aid.
  • At all other centers (Fairfax, Sterling, Chevy Chase, Park Potomac, Germantown), continue to schedule both the Diagnostic Mammogram and Breast Ultrasound together.

CT Virtual Colonoscopy (VC) Exams:

  • We are not yet scheduling Virtual Colonoscopy exams at this time.
  • If a patient calls to schedule, do not book the exam.
  • Collect the patient's information and email leadership so we can place them on the waitlist for follow-up once scheduling resumes.

Playbook Utilization:

  • Please ensure you are using the Playbook when scheduling exams.
  • The Playbook provides current information on exam availability, restrictions, and center-specific rules (e.g., "schedule exam only in morning slot").
  • Reviewing this resource before scheduling helps ensure accuracy and prevent patient inconvenience.

Sonohysterogram Scheduling:

  • The Sonohysterogram exam already includes a Pelvic Ultrasound, so there is no need to schedule both.
  • The Playbook has been updated to reflect this clarification.
